Portrait of Elisha Mirza

I am a qualified adult psychodynamic psychotherapist with over five years’ experience working in NHS mental health services.

I have worked across South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, East London NHS Foundation Trust and Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.

I trained at the Tavistock and Portman and the University of Essex, where I am now undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I previously studied at King’s College London and am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council.

I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds. I have a particular interest in how culture, race, class, family and belonging shape our sense of self and our relationships.

Therapy

What I can help with

Psychodynamic psychotherapy gives us time to notice patterns in how you feel and relate to others, and to think about how past experiences may be affecting the present. You don’t need to arrive with a clear starting point. We can begin with whatever has brought you to therapy.

Anxiety and overwhelm

Low mood and feeling stuck

Relationships and intimacy

Self-esteem and perfectionism

Loss and life transitions

Identity, culture and belonging

Sessions and fees

A regular weekly space.

Sessions are 50 minutes and take place once a week, or more frequently where appropriate, at the same agreed time.

If you occasionally cannot attend your usual appointment, I may be able to offer an alternative time that week, subject to availability.

£110 per 50-minute session
Location

Practical questions

A little more about starting therapy.

What is psychodynamic psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers a regular space to explore how earlier experiences and less conscious patterns may be shaping the way you feel, relate and respond in the present.

Where do sessions take place?

I offer in-person sessions from a private consulting room in Fitzrovia, Central London, as well as online sessions for adults across the UK.

How often are sessions?

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place once a week at the same agreed time. More frequent work can be considered where appropriate.

What happens before therapy begins?

We can begin with a free 15-minute call. If it feels helpful to continue, we will arrange a 50-minute consultation to think more fully about what brings you to therapy and whether working together feels right.

Starting therapy

Begin with a free 15-minute call.

This is an opportunity to briefly discuss what you are looking for and ask any initial questions. If it feels appropriate, we can then arrange a 50-minute consultation, charged at £110, to think more fully about working together.
